Idea To Action
Back when justice needed a voice
About three years ago I was sitting with a friend who had just returned from a trip to Africa and we had an idea…what if we could use photography to advocate on behalf of people living in poverty. It was an ambitious dream that was nothing more than a name… Gallery for Justice. Over time the idea became more of a distant memory but the idea for some reason stayed with me.
At the beginning of last year I met a photographer whose passion was to use his skills to tell the stories of individual lives affected by poverty. Over the following six months we slowly watched the ideas we had in our hearts merge together into something that was possible.
As we began to share the idea with friends more and more of them lent their skills and experience to help us… The idea was slowly but surely becoming a reality.
Yesterday afternoon in a café in Sydney five friends met together for the inaugural Board meeting of Gallery For Justice Inc. The dream is now a reality… Three years ago I never would have dreamt that I would be sitting at that table… I didn’t have the skills, the knowledge or the people for this to be possible. But, bit by bit, everything came together and the idea truly became an action…not just any action, but an action that will impact others.
